Principal Madden’s Weekly Update—Week of April 27, 2020

Dear Families/Caregivers,

It was very sad to get the announcement that school would remain closed for the rest of this school year. Even though I know it is a safe and good decision, it is heartbreaking to not be together as a school community for so long. I know that the strain on you, as caregivers, is tremendous, and I am so sorry. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you need anything. I am often in the building, and can talk through the window or talk over the phone.

I am continuing to share a read aloud in my Weekly Update that you can share with your children if you think they would like it. This week’s book is The Gardner by Sarah Stewart.

Make sure to check out last Friday’s email about our new Friday Birthdays and Fun routine (the information is on our website, too—link is below!). At school, we always announce the birthdays for the upcoming week on Fridays, and we play a song for the whole school. I should have started a new birthday routine earlier, but I was really hoping we would be back at school.

We will post the photos from the Friday Fun Challenge on Wednesday of the following week!

I hope you are finding the Distance Learning Plans and communication from teachers helpful. Everyone is trying to figure out this new way of teaching and learning, and nobody thinks it is perfect, but our teachers have been working hard to find ways to enrich and engage your children and to stay in touch with families. Please let us know if you need anything.

I hope that all families feel welcome, comfortable, and valued at our school. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Sarah Madden, Principal
