Principal Madden’s Weekly Update—Week of April 6, 2020

Dear Families/Caregivers,

I hope everyone is hanging in there during this stressful time. Our lives and routines have been all upended, and it creates such unsettled feelings, especially for children. I miss seeing them (and you) very much and hope you are doing O.K.

Here are links to two yoga videos that your children (with or without you) can enjoy. One is by our yoga instructor, Beth Tascione. Her work with many of our classes is made possible through a family donation.

The other is done by our wonderful ESP, Leah Drabek.

Free Food Distribution: Please see the attached updated flyer about when and where you can receive food for your family during this stressful time.

Our district teachers have been very busy working together to pull together resources for families during the school closure. You will receive more information about this distance learning plan later today.

I read about how many families in our area are walking or driving around neighborhoods looking for bears in windows or on porches. That is a fun idea. Keep your eyes out!

And, if you are out and about, here is the Massachusetts Audubon Outdoor Almanac which highlights some of nature’s glories during the month of April.

I’ve also attached an information sheet about frogs—one of my favorite creatures. April is wonderful time to listen and look for frogs.

I also attached a wonderful book, by Ana Gomez, for children about feelings during this difficult time.

I attached a photo of our wonderful courtyard magnolia tree. You can actually see it blossoming through the space in our roof if you are driving by the school. I wish I could somehow send how nice it smells, too!

Stay up to date (under normal circumstances!) with all of our school activities on our School Website’s Calendar!

I hope that all families feel welcome, comfortable, and valued at our school. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Sarah Madden, Principal
