Principal Madden’s Weekly Update—Week of January 13, 2020

Principal Madden’s Weekly Update—Week of January 13, 2020

From Superintendent, Dr. John Provost:

Dear Caregivers,

We enter this budget season without knowing the outcome of the Proposition 2 1/2 override vote. As always, we will advocate for the high priority needs of our schools. Obviously, we would be able to address those needs more effectively with additional funding from the override. We will plan for either outcome by preparing multiple budget scenarios this year. As is always the case, we will solicit input from the faculty, staff, students, and community members to help us determine priorities for our budget planning. We invite you to share your thoughts by responding to this survey which is posted on the district website and available directly at this link.

Photos

This week’s photos show kindergarten and second graders playing math games, first graders in yoga class, kindergarteners heading off for Forest Friday, three of our Student Leaders getting ready to announce the morning birthdays and play a song for the school, and the growing crowd at Movie Night. It was a good week at school!

Racial Equity and Learning (REAL)

Racial Equity and Learning (REAL) is hosting a meet-up for new members on January 14th from 7:30-9:00pm. We’ll gather in one of our homes, 24 Hayes Avenue in Northampton. ALL are welcome, including children! This will be an opportunity to learn about, ask questions and share ideas about REAL’s mission and work in the district; and to mingle (with snacks!) with others who are interested in working toward equity and inclusion.

If you are interested in learning more about REAL but cannot attend the new member gathering, please do not hesitate to contact a co-leader. We are happy to connect with you one-on-one!
