Principal Madden’s Weekly Update—Week of January 2

Principal Madden’s Weekly Update—Week of January 2

I hope you all were able to share happy vacations with your children. It will be nice to see everyone back at school this week.

The week before the break, we enjoyed our Winter Solstice celebration (inside because of the pouring rain!). We had fun parading around the school and joining together for some traditional solstice songs and clementines (thank you to those who donated!).

It was also a fun Pajama Day, and we raised $210 for the Sydney F. Smith Toy Fund. Thank you for your generous contributions. I included a photo of some of the adults at school in pajamas!

Also included in the photos are a couple of first graders sharing their writing with a kindergarten class.

Grow Food Northampton was working with Grade 3 on a healthy cooking project, and our kindergarten students left winter treats for the animals in the forest.

Kindergarten students were also learning some programming basics in our TechKnowledgeY Lab! Kindergarten students participate in many engineering projects in this “Maker Space”.
