Principal Madden’s Weekly Update—Week of March 11

Principal Madden’s Weekly Update—Week of March 11

It was certainly a chilly week last week, but the forecast is for a warm up ahead! It will be interesting to see how long it takes for our snow mountains to melt!

Photos

The photos this week show some of our recent good times at school. There are photos from our Read Across Ryan Road week and the Book Swap.

There are some creative snakes that were cooked in our new kiln.

There is a photo of our new popcorn machine that was first used at our movie night on Friday. Thank you to Maya MacLachlan and family for buying the new machine and to our fabulous movie night crew of volunteers! We had our last movie night for this season, but we will be back at it when it gets dark next November.

Also, there are photos of a recent visit from storyteller, Eshu Bumpus. He mightily entertained our kindergarten classes!

There is also a photo of some of our teachers at Florence Heights for our literacy outreach to that neighborhood.

The last photo shows me accepting the BIG check from Florence Bank for the Customers’ Choice Awards. We received $ 1,476 as a result of all your votes and the generosity of Florence Bank! Thank you!

March is Music in the Schools Month—School Concert: March 19 at 9:30

Our students are preparing for their participation in our annual concert. Each class meets once a week with our wonderful music teacher, Ms. O’Connell. Some of their learning will be showcased on March 19 at 9:30. Please join us if you are able.

The PTO will also have Ryan Road Gives Day on the concert day to raise funds for an upgraded sound system in our gym/auditorium and a new school sign by the road. Please donate if you are able.  Thank you!

The Read-a-thon was a huge success—quick totals from student sponsors were over $2,000! It’s good we have super readers and generous supporters!

If you missed the Science Night Information Night, you can still make a project. Tri-folds and information are in the school office.  You do not have to do a project to have fun at science night, but creating a project is fun, too! Science Night is March 12 at 6:30.
