Principal Madden’s Weekly Update—Week of October 7
October Greetings!
I wanted to let everyone know that Lisa Safron (Nurse Lisa) has been asked to temporarily fill in for Karen Jarvis-Vance (as the district’s Director of Health, Safety & Equity) until a permanent replacement has been hired (hopefully by the end of October). Karen was recently hired for a Massachusetts Department of Public Health position.
Deb Rejniak (Nusre Deb) will be here for Lisa. Deb has subbed here many times over the years and knows us and our students pretty well.
Thanks to all those parents who attended our first Academic Information Night last week. Parents who attended were very happy to hear more from teachers about curriculum and grade level expectations. It was also nice for me to share our strong (again!) MCAS scores with parents. Individual test results will be coming home this week.

Photos this week show one of my favorite traditions here at R.K. Finn Ryan Road…Learning Buddies between our 4th graders and kindergarteners. This practice helps us to build strong relationships and helps to solidify our value of taking care of one another here at school. The photos show buddies reading.
The other photo is of bubble fun at recess. Bubbles always bring fun to our outdoor time.
The last photo shows an example of one of our Responsive Classroom practices: that of teachers greeting each student in the morning. This visual from second grade allows students to have a choice about how they want to be greeted by the teacher in the morning. I am always so grateful for our thoughtful educators.
